Author Interview Liliana Shelbrook Interview with Liliana Shelbrook: 1.) What first stirred your desire to write? I've been an avid reader all my life and when I was about 10 years old, I guess I decided to write my own stories. In the beginning, I wrote fan fiction and different endings to classic books such as "Gone with the Wind" (a very pretentious teen!) then gradually I was ready to develop my own work. 2.) What is your genre? Who is your target audience? It's women's historical fiction with a dash of romance. 3.) How do you combine research with life experiences in your writing? I love research and get many of my ideas when I'm looking for information online, so my writing is really a mixture of both research and my own views and imagination. 4.) What is your current project? I'm working on LANTERN IN THE MIST Book II of the trilogy. In this next chapter of Kathleen Colby's life, we'll be following her adventures in NYC during the beginning of the 20th.century, according to my fascination with the social history of the American woman. 5.) Do you have previous books? Oh yes, and I'll be launching them gradually after I publish the entire LANTERN IN THE MIST trilogy. 6.) What is your goal in writing? How do you want to impact your readers? My goal is to entertain my readers, to be able to take them to another world for a few days and let them hopefully feel empathy for the main character and, through them, bring readers an escape from their own trials. 7.) What surprises you the most in the publishing journey? The kindness of my fellow independent writers. I'm still amazed at how many writers have offered to help me in getting my book out there. I believe in good karma, so I'm doing the same as best I can. I'm here for the long run Lana, and expect to meet many interesting and talented writers. 8.) What is the title of your book? LANTERN IN THE MIST 9.) Where is it available? At Amazon.com. 10.) How much is social media helping in marketing your book? It's helping me a lot! I actually love doing it, especially when a reader contacts me.
